How much should I feed my dog?
As a general rule of thumb, a healthy weight adult dog will consume between 1-3% of their body weight per day. The exception to this rule are puppies, they need to be fed up to 9% of body weight per day in three meals until 12 weeks old, then gradually reduce the amount fed to 3% at 12 months old.
Please remember that daily food includes any treats, bones and other food, so please bear this in mind when feeding.
FurFresh serving size is calculated for healthy weight adults at 1% of body weight per day designed to be the main meal of the day and supplemented with a raw bone or other healthy treat. If not supplementing meals, calculate at 2% of body weight. Suitable for all life stages.
Use the below table as a guide but use your dog’s appearance as a guide.

How do I transition my dog & find other product info?
We’ve developed the ultimate feeding and transitioning guide. Download the PDF here:
The full guidelines are in the above PDF but as an overview please read below.
How to transition your dog/s to FurFresh:
For dogs making the change from a processed diet of kibble or canned food, our food should be introduced gradually, over a period of 5-14 days depending on your dog’s sensitivity. If your dog is already consuming a varied, raw or home cooked diet, our food can usually be introduced more quickly, over one or two meals.
Start by adding just a small amount of the FurFresh into your dog’s current meals or as a treat before the main meal. Gradually increase the amount of the FurFresh food while decreasing the amount of your dog’s original diet. This will allow the natural ‘friendly’ gut flora in the intestines to get accustomed to the new diet and become more efficient at digesting the new food.
How much you start with will depend on the size of your pup and how sensitive they are to change. For some, ¼ of FurFresh and ¾ of the original diet may work well. For more sensitive dogs, start with a smaller amount. For more robust tummies, you may try ½ and ½. Feel free to adjust the amount and schedule to suit your pup’s individual needs.
Steps for a successful transition:
- Initially, introduce FurFresh as a treat just before feeding them their regular main meal.
- Next, feed them 1/4 FurFresh to 3/4 regular food.
- Gradually increase the FurFresh quantity over the next few days. As a guide you could use the following amounts 1/3 > 1/2 > 2/3 > 3/4 until your dog is solely eating FurFresh.
- Monitor your dog’s stools for changes as a good indication of how they’re transitioning. If they experience any loose stools, this is a sign to take it a little more slowly.
What to do if your dog experiences a tummy upset?
It is fairly common for dogs and their humans to absolutely love FurFresh (which is great!) and stop feeding their previous food at all straight away (this can be not so great). After a few days, the dog’s digestive system can react and they can experience quite loose stools and sometimes even diarrhoea. Occasionally you might also see a little bit of blood that is either drops around the stool or a ‘raspberry jam’ like consistency. This is often a result of straining and slight inflammation and whilst isn’t cause to panic, should be monitored closely.
If any of these symptoms happen, rest assured that if your dog is otherwise happy and bright, you just need to reduce the amount of FurFresh being fed and follow the below steps to transition successfully.
If at any point you’re concerned, email [email protected] or consult your Vet.
How do I order your amazingly fresh food?
As we’re just starting out, we are currently only taking orders online, and only delivering to NSW, VIC, QLD (don’t take it personally, it’s just that it super expensive for a startup to work out shipping from Sydney to a little further afield).
What are the delivery options?
Currently we operate on a flat rate shipping basis in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane (and rest of Australia for our Barkaroo treats). For orders under $100, a flat rate of $15 shipping applies and for orders over $100, delivery is free! We currently deliver in poly ice boxes and normally deliver in the afternoon. Please view our delivery schedule to see when your next delivery date will be.
What is your refund policy?
We’d be barking madly pleased with ourselves if you were supremely happy with your purchase. However, in the event that you aren’t happy with your purchase, we may offer either a refund or replacement under the following circumstances:
- The product was delivered spoiled or damaged. However, we don’t accept liability for spoiled product as a result of an unattended delivery.
- When we’ve sent you the wrong product (shame on us)
- The product is not of satisfactory quality
Unfortunately, we can’t offer a refund for a change of mind, or if your fur baby doesn’t devour it like we would expect. If your fur child is reluctant to eat the food, try to offer the food at least three times. You can read more about our transitioning tips here.
How to request a refund
Please email [email protected] with your delivery details and a brief overview of the issue. We must be notified within 24 hours of receiving your delivery.
Our returns policy is not intended to replace any of your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (we’d hate to end up in an episode of the ABC’s The Checkout).
Do you have any physical stockists?
Is your dog food 100% Grain Free?
Yes! All of our food is 100% grain free. We started off with a small amount (less than 10%) of brown rice in our Chicken raw food but we decided to remove it. We are not vehemently opposed to all grain, as we know that a dog in the wild would most likely encounter grain as part of the natural prey diet. However, we don’t endorse copious amounts of grains, wheat or pasta especially when they’re used as fillers to keep costs down. That’s just a little bit cheeky in our books.

You don't include offal in your raw food. Why?
That’s a great question and one we thought long and hard about. The truth is that offal is a tricky subject. We fully endorse our dog’s need for offal as a rich source of iron, magnesium and other goodies, but there is quite a bit of debate around the quantity and frequency of offal feeding. The reality is that each dog has different needs, some can tolerate every day, some breeds only a couple of times a week, and breeds like Dalmatians often don’t cope very well at all with offal. So, we’ve chosen to allow you, the pet parent to choose how often and what type of offal you feed. Most add 5-10% (and never more than 15%) 2-3 times per week. Some great secreting offal choices are:
Remember, whatever you choose, make sure it’s human grade and ethically sourced.
Is your dog food 100% raw?
In consultation with our animal nutritionist, our FurFresh food is crafted with raw Australian meat, blanched vegetables and pure vitamins and minerals. By blanching our vegetables, we mirror the natural digestive process of wild prey animals. Simply put, blanching first makes it easier for your fur baby to digest, without cooking them to the point of lost nutrients. So, therefore we are not a 100% raw dog food diet (but we believe it’s better this way).

Do you have any other T&Cs I should know about?
Yes. Lady Legal insists we include a few more nitty gritty points to protect us both! You can read them here.
So, where did Fido hide my shoe?
Alright, human. I’ll tell you. Walk outside, take three big steps towards the old oak tree, jump up and down four times and I’ll bring it right over.
But I still have questions!
